Messrs Bright, Ha-ding, Whinray, Lysuur and Hinoil also tpoke, lamenting tha opatby shoivu, aud all but Mr Whinray feeling there was no other course open than to abandon tho pi c j ct. Mr Whmray, in a trenchant speech, roviewed the whole subject, upbraiding people for thoir selfishness and apathy and stating that it was not only in thm but in other public movements. He did cot think there wa3 any of the personal element in it, but that it was simply tbe general apathy on the pubjsot.
