The Chinamad, after killing Aiken, barricaded himself in a room at Hine’e, When the crowd tried to break in he set the room on fire. Water poured through a window prevented the fire spreading; The arresting constable received a oouple of wounds with a tomahawk. The murderer was employed at Riverview College. He expressed sorrow at the murders, and declared he bad to kill three people in order to get to Heaven. He asked the police to shoot him.
