The seleot committee of the House of Lards appointed to inquire into the question of treating British and foreiga life insurance companies, as far as possible, on an equality lest reprisals be taken by foreiga governments reports sgainßt the suggestion to compel foreiga companies to deposit funds as security for British pol'oy holders. It recommends miking not withdrawable the deposit imposed on any new company since 1870; also fur* nishing the Board of Trade with full accounts of tho business of the companies and the market value of securities he'd, and in the oase of a foreign company tho appointment of British trustees.
