Canterbury ' was played at Alexandria Park, Epsom, yesterday afternoon, under fairly favorable ground and weather c onditions, in presence of about 6000 spectators. The local forwards were rather heavier than the Southerners, but the visitors all round were a likely looking lot. In the first spell Canterbury with a strong wind behind them scored G points to Auckland’s 3 (all goals), but the locals had a bit the best of the game in the second half. Playing with the wind Auckland ran over their opponents, and put on another 26 points, while Canterbury- failed to score, the local team thus winning by 29 to 6, The winners were altogether too powerful for the visitors in the forwards, and the sweeping rushes were irresistible, the forwards leading the way to most of the scores. Dufty, the Auckland full back, gave a fine exhibition of goal kicking, missing only one.
