Auokland, last night. A prosecution instituted by tho Inspector of Dairies came beforo Mr R. W. Dyer, S.M., in tho Police Court to day, Jtimes Wood and Goo. E. Tanaley, dairymen, being summoned for failing to thoroughly oleanso two cans used for tho recoptiou of
milk. Mr S. Mays, on I oha'f of the Crown Solicitor, stited that Wood and T.ms'ey owned registered dairy farms at Otabuhu and Panmil.o, and kept a shop in Auckland. Ho was satisfied the cans cacao within tho regulation. Mr Brown (Dairy lospeotor) was oallfd by the Magistrate, and stated that oleansing was easier if oarried out within four hours. Dunedin, last eight. The ease of the Commissioner of Taxes v, City Corporation was concluded this evening. This was a claim for £853 duty on tramway mat; rial. The point involved was whether the points and crossings for eleotrio tramways were rails for tramways or tramway material not otherwiso enumerated. A special jury gave a unanimous verdict that the articles were rails for tramways, and therefore not dutiable. Judgment was eiterrd up for the City Corporation with costs on the highest scale.
