Tho football match, Canterbury v. Wanganui, was played to-day on the Recreation Ground before a large attendance of spectators, and resulted after a strenuous and exciting game, in a welldeserved victory for Canterbury by 16 points to 8, Tho ploy from start to liuish was very fast and interesting, the work done by the visitors’ backs being of a high order, and repeatedly evoked applause and enthusiasm from the spectators. Fraser scored two tries for Canterbury, both being converted by Fraser, who also kicked two penalty goals, . Fryer played a great game for tbo visitors, while Fraser gave a great exhibition of place-kicking. Bell and Corley soored tries for Wanganui, one of which Fowler oonverted.
