Cnilman to work iron ore deposits at l’arapara has notified the .Minister ol Mines that it intends to shut work on (he lease before the end of the present month. 'The syndicate has the right to work IUUO acres. One of the conditions of the lease is that the deposit will he forfeited if operations arc not commenced before the expiry of flic present month. At a meeting of the Wakinmi Load Hoard a letter was received from the Chrischurch Technical Association, asking the Hoard to bring under the notice ol farmers the classes for instruction in wool classing. The Hoard resolved to recommend a system of travelling lecture ships, as it would enable a large number ol farmers to take advantage oi the beneiits of instruction, also that steps he taken to give three or four lectures at Ashburton prior to the ensuing wool season.
