The Mayor has givon J 6200, bemg half bis honorarium, for subsidies to the various Auckland bands to provide music in the parks for the public. 1 The Auckland Farmers' Fretz'ng Company, Limited, has arranged, subject to consent of the' Bbareholderr, to purchase from the Auckland Freeing Company the Auckland Freezing Works, situated on the railway wharf. Thß Farmers’ Company will now have two freezing establishments. The Auckland Freeziog Company are so satisfied with the new constitution of the Comp >ny that they have deoidod to take up a very considerable number of shares.
Wellingion, last night. A public meeting was bold to-night for the purpose of disoussmg the propcsad erection of a eremitorinm in the city. Dr. Mason, Chief Health Officer, said there oould be no doubt from a healrh point of view as to the advisabil ty or substituting cremation for earth buria 1 .
