FIRE AT GISBORNE,

NARROW ESCAPE OF MRS AND MISS SHEEN. An alarm of fire was rung out by the nightwatchman at a fow minutos to i this morning, by which the house occupied by Mrs Sheen and family at the corner of Bright street and Childers road was practically dodestroyed. Mrs Sheen and her daughter wero aroused by a noise as if of hammoring, and getting up found that there was tire in two of the rooms. They wero aided by Constable Haucox to escapo through the window in their night clothes. Nothing could bo saved, though the Brigade prevented the fire from spreading. Mrs Sheen had retired to rest at 11 p.m., everything thou boing apparently being quite safe.
