NORTH ISLAND V SOUTH ISLAND PRESS ASSOCIATION Wanganui, last uight. The third inter-island hockey match played here to day, resulted in a win for the North by 2 goals,scored by Coe, to nil. The. game was_vfii-y fast and. interesting, some splendid play being indulged in by the Northern half lino. Bell, ami McKenzie, Fraser, Coe, Sovrcnson, Crump, Rue, and Thompson, proved themselves a very solid lot in attacking. The Southern forward line suffered by comparison in the circle, but play as a whole was evenly distributed. Jacobs, the South Island right wing half, was repeatedly applauded for brilliant play Niccoll also at back was conspicuous. The goals scored by Coe were splendid shots, and the result of fine passing among the North front rankers, Ford, Niccoll, and Congreve gave a good defensive display for the losers, and Swinburn, Cave, and Rybuvn, for the Northerners. Mr 11. M. Payne was referee, and gave every satisfaction.
