Trade in all classes is very slow! Prices arc barely maintained. The qver-. ago price of light weight Canterbury brands is Sjfjd, heavy \ycjght 3. 3. 8d ; best Quality of North Island mutton is quoted at ibid. The lamb market is steady, and there is likely to remain a good demand for all brands. Tho averago price of Canterbury lamb is fid, other than Canterbury -fod. There is a better demand for beef. Supplies of American chilled beef arc small. Hind quarters arc quoted at iijd, forequarters 2[d. The butter market is linn Prices continue to advance. The prospects for next season's market arc more favorable than last year. Only small supply of best quality on hand. Choice New Zealand brands are to day worth 108 s per cwt. The cheese market is steady, with very good demand. White makes are 0 Is, colored 00s per cwt. The hemp market is not quite so firm. Large buyers have drawn the market, and prices consequently have declined. Wellington hemp is quoted at £oi 10s. The cocksfoot seed market is dull, buyers not being keen to do business The average price of 171 b bright clean dressed seed is 40s per cwt. The wool market is quiet, and there is no alteration in prices.
