I'ItUSS ASSOCIATION Dunedin, last night. At an adjourned meeting of the Caversham Licensing Committee two applications deferred pending completion of improvements were granted. In the case of the Racecourse Hotel, the architect appointed by the ground landlord (who is out of the colony) reported that it would be waste of money to attempt to improve the present building, and the owner had given definite instructions to build a first-class hotel within nine months The license was granted on condition that a new house is erected by the next annual meeting. Wanganui, last night.

It was decided to-night to form Wanganui centre of the New Zealand Athletic Union.

At the Supreme Court to-day the grand jury threw out a charge of theft preferred against George Gau-lin. A verdict of not guilty was returned in the case of Geo. Brough, charged with committing an unnatural offence. Percy Burt, theft; John O’Neill, re -eiv’ng stolen jewellery, and Wm. William Willis, theft, were found guilty. The first-named was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment. The other two were remanded for sentence.

At a meeting of the Seddon Memorial Executive Committee held this evening, it was resolved to send a circular to all local bodies, Trades Unions, Employers’ Associations, Farmers' Unions, Agricultural Associations, Chambers of Commerce, University Colleges, Education Boards, School Committees, Friendly Societies and other similar bodies or institutions throughout the colony, asking them to co-operate in the movement, and also to rnako their suggestions as to the form the memorial should take, these to bo submitted to the general committee, in order that a definite decision may be arrived at.
