A prosecution under the Servants’ Begistry Act was brought in the Police Court yesterday afternoon by the Inspector of Factories against a registry ollice proprietor named Bobert M. Heighton. The offences alleged were that Heighton unlawfully took a watch and chain in payment of hiring fees, and also took a watch and chain as security for payment of fees. His Worship said whether Heighton bought the watch or took it as security, he committed a breach of the Act. He did not believe wbat defendant said about paying the monoy to the youth, A conviction was recorded, with a fine of £5, and £2 2s costs, the Magistrate remarking that a miserable, contemptble trick had been sorvod upon the boy.
