PRESS ASSOCIATION Wellington, last night. Consus returns show a preponderance of females in boroughs, the figures beiDg 211,683 inaleß and 218,433 females (exclusive of Maoris). In counties the males number 255,078 and the females 203,492. The following boroughs show a greater proportion of female population : Devooport, Auckland, Grey Lynn, Parnell, OnehuDga, Thamep, To Aroba Cambridge, Taurangß, Nr-w Plymouth Inglewood, Wanganui, Napier, Woodville, Karori, Picton, Blenheim, Nelson, Richmond, Hokitika, EaDgiora, Kaikorai, Chrißtohurch, Sumner, New Brighton, Aknroa, Geraldino, Timaru, Oamaru, Hampdon, Hawk-bury, Port Chalmers, Norsh East Valloy, Maori Hill, West Harbor, Dunedin, Roslyn, MorningtoD, St. Ktlda, Mosgiel, Milton, Luurtnoe, Tapanui, Queenstown, Invercargill, and Riverton. The following are soma of tho figures: Auckland, males 18,828, females 18,912; Grey Lynn, 2821, 8067; Parnell, 2416, 2857; Onchunga, 1770, 1983; New Plymouth, 2460, 2687; Wanganui, 4005, 4173 ; Napier, 4704, 4769; Woodvillo, 540, 570; Karori, 1096, 1098 ; Picton, 494, 501; Blenheim, 1666, 1088; Nelson, 8838, 4825; Richmond, 315, 336; Hokitika, 1059, 1168; Christchurch, 24,348, 25,578; Timaru, 3728, 8879; Oamaru, 2446, 2625; Port Chalmers, 1048, 1072 ; Dunedin, 17,178, 18, 897; Roslyn, 2421, 2018; Mornington, 1905, 2245 ; Invercargill, 3007, 8092 ; Miramar, 489, 463. The returns show that Wellington harbors more Chinese than any other city or town. There arc 816 males and 18 female Chinese here. Auckland has 111, Palmerston North 72, Grcymouth 111, Dunedin 204, and Christchurch 47. Altogether thefe arc 1872 Chinese in the country, of whom 08 tire women. To every 100 persons in counties there 'wore 78 persons in boroughs at tho census of 1901, and 98 at that of 1906.
