In the Assembly Mr Oarruthers moved tho adoptiou of a new standing order that whenever it has been deeidod, whether boforo or aftor approval of this Etauding order, that the House may not proceed on a matter effecting allegod misoonduot, bocause thereby a member may bo prejudiced at a pending criminal trial, the House may suspend such member until the jury return a verdict or until it is further nrdorod. Ho said the objaot of tho motion was to put to the House in the pobition ihut where orrminal proceedings are ponding, if Parliament wa6 to be silent in the matter, the member who was charged with tbs offence should also be silent. It would givo Parliament the same power as that held by ouisido tribunals to preveDt itself being prejudiced by a stay of proceedings. Tno motion was oarried on the voioes after a short debate.
