Tho Natal Government state that when found Bambaata’s body was putrefied, and it was impossible to remove, it to oatnp for tho purpose of identification. . A doctor removed the head, which he took bo the oamp. When it hod been identified aud photographed it was buried with the body. It was never sent round the country to convince the natives. Government state that the campaign has been conducted humanely. Possibly, there have boon some isolated instances of brutality on the part of troopers ,and natives. There was one instance of outraged women. When fighting in the bush against overwhelming numbers it was impossible to take prisoners.
