ASSESSMENT COURT.
COUNT? VALUATIONS.
A sitting of tho Assessment Court was hold yesterday to hoar in regard to country valuations. Mr W. A. Barton, S.M., presided, being associated with Messrs W, fciiovwrigbt and W. G. Mac.'auric, assessors. Mosers 0. F. Lewis, District Valuer, and H J. Coutts appeared in support of tho valuations. The following objections wore dealt with : Seotion3 4 and 2, Matawbero, comprising 146 acres 8 roods 6 perches, Mr J. Coleman objeoting on behalf of Rena’s Trustees, The Government valuation watt £25 10s, including buildings valued at £BOO. Me Coutts appearod in support. After hearing evidence tbs Court reduced the capital value to £22 10s. Section 2, Ta Rua Ohinetu, Te Arai, 122 aores, W. F. Stephenson objeotor. Mr 0. F. Lewis appeared for the Department. In this caso objection was taken to tho capital value, which was worked out at £26 10s an acre. Valuation sustained.
Sections 45 and 96, block XII., Patutahi, acros, Potor Livingstons oh-, jaotor. Tno oapitnl value was £8640, unimproved value £2406, improvements £1232, Mr G. F. Lewis defended. Valuation Bustuined. In the oase nf Messrs Biaiereon and Moßue’s objeotion, the objectors pointed out that they did not so muoh objeot to tho capital value of the freehold os the 4186 acres of native lease, in regard to whioh there was no compensation at tho end of the lease. There was about five years So run, and it would cost 10a per ecro So pnt it in order. After hearing evidence Sbe Court decided to sustain tho valuation.
The only other objection board was thut of NisbetS and S'indiuut, in regard to 20 acres, Te Kb, aka township, the District Value's assefismont being sustaino!. This concluded tho sittings.
