RACING CONFERENCE.

Wellington, last night. At the Racing Conference it was decided that the Executive shonld take steps to provide machinery by which suspected _ cases of malpractice may be investigated and dealt with by a permanent committee appointed by the Conference_ Hir George Clifford was re-elected President. Ihe Permits and Dates Committee recommended that the Otaki-Maon Club be granted October 11th and 12th, Wellington Racing '.Club he granted October 17th to 20th; that the applications of 1 fannevirke, Ohinemuri, Tarataui - Carterton, Marton, Pahiatua, Avondale (new applications), and Eorbury Park Clubs be not granted. The application of Manawatu fur a three days’ meeting was agreed to. The Ashhurst Club s application for two days was refused. The Stratford Club, which applied for January Ist and 2nd, was asked to choose another date The Wanganui Club, which applied for March 7th and Bth, was givon March Bth and 9th South Canterbury was allowed .to alter its application fram April 1' aud 18th to April 10th and 11th. In the Auckland district the applications of the Avonda'o and Ohinomun clubs
for extra permits were refuted. _ x Hawke’s Bay district the Dannevirke Club’s applicu iou lor an additional permit was refused. In tbe Otago district the application of the 10-.buiy Park Racing Club for two perm‘d was struck out. Palmerston and Waikouaiti both applied lor a perm t. Waikouaiti was granted a permi , Palmerston having had it last year. In the Wellington district the> am)l cations of theTnratahi, Carerton, Waira rapa, and Pahiatua Clubs for additional permits were re used. Ihe number of permits was xney wore allocated to the different districts as follows : Auckland 18, r’anterhury 12 Croy mouth 7, Hawke's Bay 20.
