Jaly 7. Fortune favored the pbasure aaebera of Tnparoa aDd surrounding districts on Jnne 29th for tha occasion of the Waiapu annual ball, wbioh was held in the large dumping shtd, kindly lent by Mr T. 8. Willism’. The weather was all that oould be desbed, and early in the eveniog the gay aud exoitid bFgan to arrive. The hall was most beautifully deoorated, and the floor in splendid condition. Mr von Lubbe presided at the piano, and in bia usual good style adied much to the eveniog’s pleasure. The oitering in the hands of Mr Chas. Raytborn was judged by the justice done to it. At 8 p.m. the strains of the “ Double Eagle ” oonld he heard, and 50 couples tock part in the grand march. Several extras were played by Mrs Ludbrook, Miss Beehan and Miss Taylor, all of which were greatly, appreciated. Among the ladies I noticed : Miss Williams, wts much admired in a aoft white dress, the bodioe of white chiffon, belt of white satio, a dpep full berthe and short s'eovea' pf ohiffon, and a pretty buoch of flowers on her corsage; Miss R. Williams was prettily frocked in white muslin draped with chiffon, and fljwers in her heir; Miss Beehan looked dainty in a full net over white sat : n, the skirt prettily trimmed with true lovers knots of rclll :d ribbon, flowtrs on hsr oorsage; Miss Hayes, soft black silk sequin and blaok lace trimmings; Miss Luoy Hayes (debutant) wore a becoming duchess cream satin, tbs skirt prettily tucked, aooordeonpleated ohiffon aud bankpia roses on oorsage; Mi?s Phil Hayee, red poplin de chine cream, laoe trimmings; Miss Busby wore black si'k, softly trimmed with Bunray obiffob; Miss Reston looked nice in a black laoe over silk, pink sequir and rosette Miss Broderiok, oream vdile,’ daintily lucked ohiffon and pink flowers; Mias Downey (debntaDt) wore a soft cream dress fioished with frills and satin, rufllad ribbon ; Miss Beryl Downey, white si.k, cream insertion ; Miss Taylor, black satin mauve, bow in hair; Mias Nealson, oream; Mis 3 Hargraves, pretty Wa-gceen siik overlined with net; Miss Pilcher, oream -un’a veiling finished with bebe ribbon ; Miss Maloney, oream voile; Misses Robinan black; Mbs Dsltoo, oream and erlMiss Brooking, piok cashmere and -lack bebe ribbon ; Mibs Gerrad, white ; Vli s B'len, hlnn bl'i’usp, black skin ; Mrs Ludbrook', looked lumdsome in a black silk cjross, elbow sleeves and finished with'chiffon: Mrs Nurse, blue silk dress, yerv much slijrred and tucked; Mrs J, Walker, black satin, cream lar-c trim: inin"s; Mrs Broderick, red silk blquse, black silk skirt; Mrs Downey, Mack silk; Mrs Twhaits, looked well in a black silk, softly finished with chiffon and pink flowers qn corsage ; Mrs Maddox, mauve dress, cream lace yoke, finished with tiny bqws; Mrs McCullough, black, with black insertion; Mrs Oates, black; Mrs Earnsliaw silk blouse, blackshirt; Mrs Dick, black'silk blouse, voile skirt, Mrs Cornish, black.
