BRUTAL ATTACK’S.

Auckland, last night. Mrs Agnes Whittomc, wife of a miner employed at Ivarangahakc, was attacked and assaulted, evidently in mistake for somebody else, in Mount Eden district, on Saturday night. She struck and kicked her assailant, who caught her by the throat and brutally struck her head against a stone wall. She screamed, and her assailant decamped.

Westport, last night. A man brutally assaulted a respectable young married women on Saturday night with intention to commit a more serious otl'cnce. The woman was much knocked about. Robert Raymond, alias Wilson, has been arrested and identified by the woman. He was remanded.
