At last night's moel* ing the Tram Employes’ Union endorsed tho action of tho Executive, and pledged itself to support thorn. It granted 10s a day to Lawton until his case was sottlod, and also decided io potition Parliament to allow Lawton to appear at tho bar of tho House in roforonco to tho men’s gri o ' vnnoos, and in support of a Commission of inquiry. Ono speaker said the men did not want to take oxtromo measures, but if tho publio did not bolp them in getting a full they would havo to use the power they had at their command. If they did that there would not bo a repetition of the Viotorian railway strike. Ono hundred and thirty tobacoo workers oro out. The secretary of tho Employees’ Union claims there is an attempt to combine to crush unionism. The wheolers of tho Stookton colliery deolined tho Miners’ Union advioe to resume work. Tho position at the other pitß is unaltered. Owing to the trouble the price of coal at Melbourne will be advanced 5s per ton.
