MAKING LIGHT OF THE LAW.

At the Polioe Court to day the Inspector of Factories prosecuted a grocer for not registering his place as a factory, as the inspector found another person than the owner at work mixing or grading tea. The ease was dismissed, as it was not shown that more than one person was employed. The same defendant was then charged with employing two shop assistants after closing hour on Saturday. On the inspector visiting the piece be found tbe owner and an assistant emptying a tank full of oroekery outside, while defendant's daughter was at the till. Fo: tbe defence it was stated the girl was goiDg to the bank to get some change, and went to the till to get the money, Tbe magistrate 'bought the case was an extreme one, Ths assistant was net selling or catrying 0a busines-*, and the girl, who liyed on tbe premises, had only gons to the till .for money, The ease was dismissed.
