In the Senate, discussing defenoe matters, Mr Giveas urged the establishment of a small arms and ammunition factory.
Mr Playford said it depended whether the quantity required would pay for its establishment, fie bad tried to get New Zealand and the Admiralty to join, N-go-tiations with the Admiralty were still proceeding. Mr McGregor favored building an Aus* tralian fleet. It was very well to say they had Biitish scoority, but the flagship Powerful had reoently broken down, and tbe Pyramus was undergoing repairs. That waß the sort of ships they relied on to protect Australia. They had everything here in favor of constructing ships. ANTI-TRUST BILL. By telegraph. Press Asi’n, Copyxlgh Received 12.5 a.m., June 23. Melbourne, June 22. The House of Representatives adjourned the debate on the second reading of tbe Anti-Trust Bill until Tuesday. The real fight is expected in tbe committee stages. In the House of Representatives, Mr Ewing, in reply to a question, said be knew from conversation with Mr fieabin that it was intended to take the_shißping rure accepting'the English maii tenders. The Senate adjourned until July 18th, owing to there being no business forward from the other Chamber to go on with. Mr Playford stated that Government had no intention of sending a team to Bisley, but would consider the supplementing of any subscriptions raised.
