Tito following report, witl the balance-sheet, will bo presented at tin annual general meeting of the Society 01 Saturday, 88th iust. : “It was unfortunate that at our lasi Show wo experienced bad weather . foi the second day, which no doubt exorcised an appreciable effect on the roeeipts. Notwithstanding this, it is pleasing to bo able to report that the Society's year resulted satisfactorily, and the show was a tinancia success. “ The progress of the Society is evi dcncad in the summary as follows 1002 : Ilorscs 815, cattlo 75, sheep 110 pigs 28, poultry -10, produce 70, dogs 81, competitions, vehicles and sundries -12, total 724 ; members 212. 1003: Horses 888, cattle 108, sheep 188, pigs 2-1, poultry 85, produce 60, dogs 88, competitions vehicles and sundries -16, total 831; members 200. 1001: Horses 880, cattle 131, sheep 150, pigs 2-4, poultry 88, produce 113, dog* 18, competitions vehicles and sundries 138, total 1020 : members 870. 1005: Horses ,87-1, cattlo 118, sheep 221, pigs 28, poultry 22, produce 88, dogs 08, competitions vehicles and sundries 108 : total 1100; members -150. And there is every indication of a larger growth in the future. Prior to the last show being hel
considerable area was levelled, and the cattle yards permanently placed in a suitable position in the front of the stand. The sheep yards were also placed in the front, and it is intended to arrange them permanently before the next Show, A new industrial and produce shed was also erected and the improved facilities aforded exhibitors generally were much appreciated, and these it is intended to further increase before the next Show is held. Tho inauguration of challenge cups for fat stock was a good inception, and will each year, without doubt, add to the interest in the Show, and increase our entries. The exhibits in those classes la-t I year were a credit to the district; and the judges expressed high appreciation of I their quality, the cattle being superior to
these exhibited in any of the larger shows. The hearty thanks of the Society are especially due to the donators to the prize funds. The support given in this direction is of immense help to the attractiveness of the programme. The gentlemen who acted as judges, stewards, and in other capacities carried out their various duties most etlieicntly, and their good olliccs arc highly appreciated.—For the Committee. T. donations £214, hire of loose boxes £2. There was a net profit for the year of £liil Bs. Id. The assets amount to £1044 12s. 9d., an amount of £587 Bs. 9d, above the liabilities.
