Capetown, June 16. The Legislative Oouncil at Capetown, by 14 to 11, ecoepted the Oastoms Convention, but addded a rider regretting the inclusion of tbo principle of preference. Bvdney, June 17. Obituary: George Gilbert, a veteran orieketer, oaptain of tbe firet New South Wales team against Victoria. Deceased was a oousin oi Dr. W. G. Graoe. Reoeived 5.33 p.m., Tune 16. The police raided State'e Sporting Club in Pitt street, and arreßted 26.
