At the meeting of the Anok’aod Barbor Board yesterday, the Finance and Legal Committee reported that iihad oomiiered letters from the Harlor Boards Association regarding the Superannuation Bill, and recommended that "the whole question be ocneidc-nd by the Boaid. The Hon. E. Mitobeleon, chairman, eaid he ioik very strong exerption to the Superannuation Bill at the present time, end he therefore moved that the Board cannot eeo its way toßuppoit the Bill, In bis opinion, the offioers of all Boards in the colony wero receiving on an average very much higher rates of pay than was received in oommero'al cilices, and that being so, he failed to Bee that the Board shoo'd be called upon to contribute euoh a large sum. The mel on was carried unanimously. A letter was rcoeived by the Haibor Board yesterday from the Ohambrr of Gommeroe requesting the Board to contribute towards an Auckland oonrt at the Christchurch exhibition, The ohairman ea'd he noticed that the Oity Council had passed a sum of £250, condit’onally upon the Board granting a Bimilar vote, Mr Brown said it was a large amount to vote, but this was an exceptional ease. He moved that a vote of £250 bo passed. This was agreed to without further disoussioD.
The gt, Helen’s Maternity Home opening, for which Mr Seddon was ooming to Anokland, has been abandoned. The Aoting-Premier announces that the hospital will begin work without ceremony.
