' Mr Birrall offered an amendment to enable a voluntarv school to appeal to the Board of Educition against the refusal of the,local authority to take over a school. Mr Ridmond bailed the concession yvith gratitude, and trusted that it would be the forerunner cf other modifications enabling Nationalists to do what they were most anxious to do, namely, to join with non ooDfotmisis in passing a measure which, while safeguarding Catholic schoo’s, would remove injustices indicted on Nonconformists. The House adjourns on August 10th, I and will reassemble for the autumn session in October and prorogue until I Dcombor, The Times states that Mr Bedmond’s attitude iB useful, showing Unionists bow doubtful and precarious is any support they may have reckoned on from that buarter.
