INDEOENT HASTE TO FILL SEAT NEW CABINET NEEDED.
(Per Presa Association.) Grejmoulb, yesterday. It is understood that Mr Michel (Mayor of Hokitika) will contest the Westland seat, and Mr Murdock (Mayor of Kumara) is also mentioned as a candidate.
Hokitika, last night. There is a steadily growing feeling throughout the electorate that when tbe time oomes to fill the vacaooy Mr Seddon’s eldest son should be aeked to take tbe position, and so retain the honored name of Saddon in the Honse of Representatives.
Auckland, last night, Mr Mitchelson, an ex-Minister, states that the oonstitutional position is that when a Premier dieß the Cabinet dies with him, It is impossible for the present Ministry to meet the House. The procedure will be that the Government will send for Mr Hall-Jones, in the absence of Sir Joseph Ward, anl Mr Hall-Jones will form the Ministry and meet the House on June 27th.
MR HALL-JONES SENT FOR.
(Fbb Praia Aasoclatlon.) . Wellington, last night. Mr Hall-Jones was sent for by tbe Governor this evening and asked to form a Cabinet.
He deoided to wait nntil after the funeral.
