Oeylon files by the steamer Ortona contain a Rauter London message (o the cffeot that tho Cunard, Peninsular, and Paoifio Lines had announced a joint Australian Far Eastern service, it is assumed with the object of securing tho passonger traffic against the keen foreign competition. Captain Fletoher, commander of the Ortona, in an interview, said that unless two or three of the great English Companies combine against the North German Lloyds they will be run off line after line until the Germans have practically the whole passenger trade cf the world in their hands. He oould say from his own knowledge that a big combine wsb ooming oS in England before long against the German Company.
