THE TYRE REGULATIONS.
Cartiers were in strong evidence at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, when the Cock Comity Oounoil took proceedings for breaches of by-law No. 6, regulating wheel trallio on ihe Couuly roads. Mr Stock appeared for the Council, and stated that heavy penalties were not aeked; for as tba weather bed centinued fioe, but now that the rain had started heavy penalties would be sought in ease of further prosecutions beiDg neoeasary. His Worship, referring to the first css?, said that after 'hs warning was givtn, the penalties would hare to be increa l ed in oases of farther breaches. James Btown was then fined s’, ooets 25s §J, for a breach of by-law No. 6. On the next case, against Wm. Barrow?, being called, Me VV. D. LjEnir said be had just received instructions in a number of cate’, and would aEkfor nsho t adjournmint to lock into the matter, which was granted until 2.30, on condition that one caee be ttken as a test. At that hour the defendant's case was gone into, and a fine of £1 aud costs imposed. The following were eaoh fined 5t and costs : Bernard Fitzpatrick (two oases) Albert Newman, George Patten, Hugh PattersoD, Charles Samson, Wm. Habgood, Herbert Smith, Claude Welker, G. Gordon, W. Miles, A. Gibbs, and J. MoGregor, Vaiious explanations were given, such as the waggons being empty, or, as in one ease, that the waggon was b iog tek>n to a blacksmith’s chop to get the wheels changed ; but His Worship said that the by-law must be oomplied with.
