CHECKING ABUSES.

R’ceivcd 10 56 p.m., Jane 8, Sydney. June 8. The Metropolitan Rugby Union, with the view of checking rough play, deoided to appoint a touch umpire for all important metches, with power to report to the referee any rough play. It was also deoided to distribute plain olothes constables through the crowds with the object of removing persons using bad language. The departure is approved in football oiroles and press.
