REDUCTION IN FARES,
(Per Press Assqclptfop.) Wellington, last night. Tbp following telegiam was received today from Mr Seddon at Melbourne i'Havo succeeded, with the btlp of the commissioners here, in obtaining from the' Union Company aod HuddsrtrParkrr Company proposals for a reduotion of fares in the Sydney to Lyttelton and Melbourne to Ljttclicn and the round tour, Sydney, Melbourne, and Cook Straits, and vice verse, the reduction to be not ieee than 20 per cent, on present rates. Have agreed to inaction for present, provided similar reductions are made to all ports of New Zealand during the time of the Exhibition, so as to enable people to go to a'l parts of the colony at reduced rates duriDg the Exhibition."
