YOUNG MEN’S CHRISTIAN ASSOOIATION.

RECORD FOR AUSTRALIA,

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The Wellington Young Men’s Christian Association closed its building fund last night. The Association sot itself out a few weeks ago to raise ten thousand pounds for a building to be erected on a site given by Mrs Williams. Several substantia sums were given at the initiation of the movement, but during tbe past three weeks over eight thousand pounds was collected by the persistent efforts of the promoters. A feature of the oampaign is that the young men of the Aisooiation undattock to raise two thousand five hundred pounds, aud their total is £33 over that amounS and the total sum to hand, with more to oome, is £10.576. Tbe success of this oampaign easily constitutes a record for Australia, and exceeds tbe expectations of most people.

The plans will bs prepared at ore?, and tbe building commenoed in a few months. Tbe result of the collection is that the Association will enter into possession of its now building absolutely free from debt. Further sums to oome in, together with what may be left from present eubsoribers, will be devoted to furniehiDg tbe new building, which will oost several huodrede.
