Piotormaritzburp, May 31. Colonel Vandotplank, with Zululand Mounted Riflos, Borne of tho Natal Barbarians and levies undor Liouts. London and Shopßtono, carried out suoooesful operations in Mpatu district. Tho rebels made a determined stand, charging twice, but the levies stabbod or shot 35. The bush troops at Dundee have begun a general forward movemont. Details of the Bunkinyoni fight show that tho camp was situated on a hill. Tho whites formed two Bides of a square and Sibindi’s men tho other two sides. A succession of rushing, dating attacks, and ruses was carried on from all sides. A bord of cattle was moved against one faoe of the square as a soroon and to break the formation. The point was, however, held by mounted?, and a volley ohecked the onrush. The wbolo of the British position was soon surrounded. Colonel Leuohars planted rifleman in the midst of Bibindi’s foroos. The enemy’s rifle fire was good, but tho casualties were insignifioant, the Britishers lyieg and firing behind their saddles. In tho House of Commons the OpposL tion members obeered Mr Churobill for declining to listen to Mr Byles Beley’s suggestion to bring pressure to bear on Natal to terminate martial law. Mr Churobill remarked that the continuance thereof must neoeesarily be governed by the cootinuanoe of a State of serious insurrection and military operalions.
