By telegraph, Press Ass’n, Copyright New York, May 29. One hundred thousand refugees are still using the parks at Fan Francisco. A terrific thunderstorm flooded them out, tents and provisions. being destroyed, and the places being converted into quagmires.

Mr Cameron, manager-of the Auckland Savings Bank, has reoeived a penoiited letter from his son in San Francisco dated April 21. “We are located here, living in tents, and are being fed by Uncle Sam, Everybody is in the same box, hardly anybody having saved more tban they stand up in. We men have to work at anything, from carrying stretchers to digging trenches. The office is burned out with everything, our building being one of tbe first to go. At this moment it is bard to say how things will go, but I and everybody are of tho opinion that things will be better in San Francisco tban ever before.”

Mr G. T. Gibson, Paeroa, has received a letter from his sister in San Francisoo stating that at the time the mail left she was unable to fiod two of her ohildren, and wss afraid they had perished by tho earthquake or the fires. Mr Aogus MoOurdy, colonial secretary New Zealand Farmers’ Unisn, has re. ceived telegraphio advioe from Ban Fran* cisco of tbe safely of his sister, Mrs Pilk* ington.
