Mr Janies Bryce, Secretary for Ireland, lias announced that he would make a grant of three years to teach the Irish language in national schools. Mr Bryce’s Laborers in Ireland Bill, providing for a four and a quarter million loan on land purchase terms, enabling county councils to erect 20,000 cottages, was read a first time. Towards the annual interest £22,300 will be derived from Irish sources, besides £35,000 from rent, and £28,000 annually from an Exchequer grant, leaving £23,000 to be borne by rates. Mr Runcimaii, replying to a question as to whether, inasmuch as the Commonwealth House of Representatives’ Home Rule motion was printed as a Parliamentary paper, the resolution of the Sydney meeting oil tho 24th, and others held in repudiation of tho motion, would be officially issued, stated that Lord Elgin was unable to present Parliament with any resolutions not forwarded by the Governor-General.
