The Tariff Commission’s progress roport on distillation statos there has been animmense increase in New Sou'll Wales and Queensland, competing with imported spirits. Owing to tho higher cost of labor, materials, and production, and the local prejudice against Australian productions the Commission recommend, in order to equalise the conditions, that there should be a substantial difference of duty on imported and local spirits.
