Auckland, last night, At the Supreme Court, before Judge Edward?, William Smith aud Alice Simeon, who had been living together, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering a shop and tt-a'ing among other thing? 81 fattbings. Surth was found guilty on two oih3r oh'rges'of attempting to maim, disarm, or disable, or do actual bedily harm to Constable Coppell, and further that Smith interded to do actual bedily harm by dis-oba-giDg a loaded revolver. Smith was fouod not guilty on the main charge of attempted murder. The evidence showed that in Marsh last Smith and Simeon broke into a shop in Auckland, and on having it Capped and a watchman named Robe t White happened to be walking along the footpath The cooetable grabbed at but missed Smith, and pursuit took place. Smith fired twee at Capppll, who was missed, and eventually secured the prisoner. The Int er declared he had no intention o! harming the onrs*»hle. The Judge considered thp , ffeaoe hkb' da>tardly. Simeon, who bad siejed justioe by a rotfeseioD, was aimitted to probation for two years.
