REFEREE QUESTION.

Wellington, last night. On Saturday last the Petono footbal[ club refused to taka pait in tbo senior matob against the Wellington team on account of its objection to the referee, who bad bfoo appointed by the Referees’ Association. At a mettiug cf tho Rogby Union to-night it was docided to call the delegates together to pass a resolution compelling teams to play under the referee chosen by the Association. The PonokeWellington match will be pliyed later in the season.
