Mr Seddon on arrival was met by the Lord Mayor, the Town Clerk, and some members of the State Ministry. He was heartily welcomed. Mr Deakin intended to be p’O.'ent, bnt Arrived lat Afterwards he saw Mr Sadden at the hotel. A publ o i eception by the Mayor in tire Town Hell took place- at noon. There was a most representative gathering, in oludiog Mr Deakin, Sir John Forrest, and Mr Bent.

Mr David Mills stated that tbe Union Company proposed to put on tbe Maheno, and Captain Webb said tbat she HuddartParker Company would utilise the Rivetinafor the Exhibition traffic.
Mr Beddon, with tho approval of the Executive Commissioners, stated that excursion rates were essential. There ought to be a concession of at least 50 per centum on ordinary fares. Mr Mills and Captain Webb promised to plaoe the matter before their respec live companies and give a reply t.n Thursday. Mr Beddon was to-night entertained by commercial men.
