In reply to a cable on F.iday the Premier was informed the Union Company intended to put tbp Maheno on for tbe Exhibition running. She can make throe trips per month, and as she oan carry 530 passengers she could bring 1600 passengers per month. In addition to the regular service of three steamers per week, two from Sydney and one from Meluourne, eaoh of which oan oarry 300 passengers, or with the Maheno, 5400 passengers per month, the Huddart-Pa-ker Company will probably use the new steamer Riverioa, which has about the same capacity as tho Maheno, and will use a second epeoial steamer if required. It is poioted out that on no previous occasion has the Company been unable to cope with the trade, Tho Union Company has had experience of the New Zealand and Sou'hSeas Exhibi:ioo, and the Melbourne and Tbsmanian Exhibit'one, and has always provided accommodation in excess of requirements.
