At tho sitting of the Moiklo Commission, Hr Findlay brought before tho Court what ho considered a contempt of Court on tho part of Moiklo in insulting and threatening a witness named Fleming last night. Tho yield is below tho average, owing to returns from Waihi and other mines not being to hand The Parliamentary Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, after discussion, and after hearing Mr C. Hliodos, attorney of the Waihi Goldmining Company, with reference to the Horahora rapids electrical power scheme, roported that it had boon resolved that the Committee having considered tho matter, recommended the Chamber to adopt the following resolution : “This Chamber being deoply impressed wi'h tho great importance to tho province of Auckland and tho colony generally that the fullest assistance should he given to the development of our resources, and especially of our gold-bearing ores, views with surprise and regret the refusal of the Government to agree to tho very reasonable proposal of the Waihi Goldmining Company for utilisation of the Horahora Ealls for electrical power. The Chamber strongly and respectfully urges the Government to reconsider its decision, seeing that the proposal in no way interferes with tho Government policy of maintaining control of the waterpower of tho country.
