A good deal of damage of a minor □atu-e was done about the city and suburbs by Barca squalls of wind on Sunday moroiog. The wind piped up strong just before 1 a.m. from north to north-east, some of the gusts being the severest si« perienced here. Snnday w s Boe and oalm, but early this morning a gale set in again. Sima chimneys were damaged, trees were broksn aod uprooted, and small oraft in the harbor broke from the moorings, oia gust caught a ooyersd ia express waggon, and completely oapsized it The movements of the shipping were completely disarranged. The most serious individual loss is probably that of Knew stub, of Port Chalmers. He had t»ken up on the slip a larga boat to put a double Cylinder oil engine in her. The wind blew the boat oS the slip, and when picked np 'ear the heads the engine whioh was on ’ltd had disappeared.
