Colonial Bank affairs cropped-op again at the Chamber sittings before Mr Justfoa Cooper, when Victor Braund, of WeljingtOD, appeared in person to ask for an order farther postponing the destruction of books and papers of the Colonial Bank. Mr Braund said that he had commenced an aotion in Wellington against the Hon. G. McLean and J. C. Neill, directors of thedefunot Bank, to recover damages for alleged misrepresentation in the directors’ reports and balance sheets, and in speeches of the the Hon- G. McLean as Chairman of Directors. Mr Braund went on to say that ho was not aoting in a vindiotive spirit, but His Honor asked him to confine himself to showing that the Court had power to make an order, and secondly, that it should be made-
Mr Braund addressed the Court length, quoting Mr Justice Williams' judgment.
Mr Justioe Cooper several times expressed regret that Mr Braund had not the assistance of counsel.
Mr F. M Fraser replied briefly on behalf of the liquidators, aud Hta Honor gave his deoision. Ho deolined to make
an order to extend the time for keeping the bocks until Mr Braund’s aotion came od, but directed the official assignee as liquidator to retain the hooka and papers till the 3rd of May. If Braund in the meantime filed an application to review the present proceedings before Justioes Edwards and Cooper the assignee is V keep the books until May 30th when th- ■ fate of that application, if made, would b-. known. ‘ \
