At a largo number of householders' meetings last evening resolutions were passod favoring a uniform sot of school books. The mootings were throughout of an orderly nature. Nelson, last night. The School Committee election in Nelson hinged on the determination of tho old Committee and Education Board to enforce the provisions of the non-exemption certificates of the Act in regard to Catholic Schools. The inspectors had declined to grant certi" ficates, and the Committee resolved to tako action. As tho result, the liev. J. E. Mackenzie, chairman for many years, was thrown out with others, and four Catholic nominoos elected.
