Routine business was doalt with, and it was shown that the company is in a flourishing condition. Shooting, general, concert, and viglaoce oommittees were formed. The election of offioers was deferred until a future meeting. Corporal BreignaD, Sorgt. Somervell, Corporal Lyford, LanoeCorporal Hiogston, Sergt. Taylor, and Privato Rait were elected the shooting committee. After the business bad been transacted light refreshments were handed round, under the eupervisi n of Quartermaster Cave, and a very enjoyable time was spent.

Tho final heat of tho sculling matches for the gold medal presented by Mr Frank Harris was rowed off last evening, between Rees Jones and Arch. Kirk, tho latter having 6sec. handicap. A splendid race ensued The champion caught up to Kirk after passing the Hospital, and then a fine ding-dong struggle took place, Rees Jones winning by half a length. Mr J. McConnell actod as starter.

Considerable discussion took place at the County Council yesterday regarding the unfortunate position in which tho merging of the Arai Road Board had placed Mossrs Tulloeh, Robeko, and Black in the matter of road facilities to their properties. The usual subject of straitened finances intervened, and it was resolved on tho motion of Cr. Matthews to defer the mattor until August; and also, on Cr. Whinray’s suggestion, to write io tho settlors expressing sympathy with them in the position in which they were placed. The County Council yesterday had a discussion on financial matters when deciding to place on three maintenance men. Cr. Matthews agreed that it was highly desirable to have the roads maintained, but pointed out that au additional £3OO would be entailed, while tho Council only had £IOOO to enable them to carry on for another five months. Cr. H. Kenway agreed that as business men they should not spend beyond their limit. The Chairman pointed out that they could not allow a road just made to drop back to its original state; the settlors had offered to spend another £IOO on Tokonui road, and £LOO was expected from the Government. Cr. Harding agreed with the Chairman, and it was decided to put on the men.
