LONDON ADVICES.

Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd., have received the following advice from London, in connection with the colonial wool sales which took place on the 13:h March

last The seoond series of colonial wool sales for the current year commenced oa the 13ih inst. with an excellent attendance of buyers from all sections of the trade. As the result of very keen and goneral competition we have now to advise an advance in prices all round. Ia the case of sooured and greasy merinos the improvement is represented by a rise of 5 per cent, and occasionally 7i per cent., the fulleet appreciation being notioeable on the better classes of greasy oombiog. Crossbreds are also in excellent demand, and finer descriptions are 5 per C9nt., the medium 7£ per cent., and the coarse fully 10 per cent, higher than the closing rates of last sales. Slips are in strong demand and are selling at prices folly eqaal to those realising for greasier. Lambs’ wcol is eagerly eought after at fully 10 per cent, advance, and occasionally more- Altogether the result of the opening of those series may be considered distinctly satisfactory. Trade both at home and abroad is very brisk, and the possibility to whiob wo referred at the end of the yr a-, viz., that tho increased production of wool from Australia would be readily absorbed by the trade, without any material lowering of price, appears likely to be realised. Whether the result will be ac'ually attained or not remains to be seen ; there is, however for the time boing, a very coDfilent tone ia the market and these who are bißi able to judge anticipate that thore is not much ohanci of any material sot back in va'ues fo: some months to como.
