TRINITY YOUNG MEN’S CLUB.

A new and distinct epoch in the histor of tho Church of England in Poverty Ba; was entered upon in the opening of thi abovo club last evening. The room seourod by the club aro situated in Clay ton's now buildings, corner of Gladstoni road and Darby street, and are in ever; sense suitable for the purpose. A largi reading and games room is set apart for the members who desire quiet rest oi recreation. Whilst for those who play billiards a full s'zr Wright-Brnish table has teen piooured. At the opening ceremony last night the president of the club, Rev. Dawson Thomas, said that thal ceremony matkei the partial realisation ol a dream he had many years ago. The oomplete fulfilment of the droam now remained with the members. If they all pulled together and worked for tho common good the result must be success to their club. Captain Tucker (hen ad dressed tho members and remarked that he was specially pleased to see that the club had secured a billiard table. The game wa3 a truly noble one, and brought out whatever skill eaoh player might poesoes. Some people might look askanoo at such a club enoouragiog the game, but people might make evil out of a'l games. The club would not bo more successful than he wished it to bo.

Major Win'.er said ho was glad to be prosent He locked back to forty years sgo, there were no club 3 of this kind ihon, (A voire : Clubs of a different kind then, Major!) Ho classed himself as a young man still, and would do all in hiß power to further tho club. A capital programme of mus e was contributed by Messrs H. Morgan, (J acie, P. Doyle, Brownlee, Licbtwaik, and the club orchestra. The billiard table was then opened by Major Winter and Captain Tucker. We wish all possible sucoees to the Trinity Club, believing that there is a good opening for such an organisation in the ktyn,
