A BURGLAR.
AN EXCITING CHASE
Oa the n'ght of March 27 there was considerable commotion at the bicycle and hardware establishment of T. W. Henderson, in Sydney, oausod by tho disoovory of a burglar on the premisos. It appears (that Mr Henderson was engaged in the upper part pf tbe building, which is used jfpr residential purposes, when ho heard a suspicious sound in tho shop. CalliDg his gon Mr Henderson cautiously descended and again heard a noise. Lighting a candle he saw a orouchiog figure behind a show oaes. Warning the figure that whoever h 9 was ho would shoot him, Mr Henderson made arnsh for a drawtr in which a reyolver was kept. Seeing Mr Henderson coming towards him with the revolver levelled tbe thief cried cut, “ Don’t shoot,” but at that particular moment the eandle blew -out. Immediately tbe burglar dodged and made a rush up some stairs, stumbling over various articles of hard ware in his flight and creating a commotion Mr Henderson pursued the fugitive . closely. Mr Henderson, jun., gave the alarm and attracted a considerable crowd, among which were three policemen, but the burglar, evidently knowing hie way about, continued his flight, and made his ite . escape through a window, and, by oHmbjng down uome electric cables, oventually i fioeped,
