TRAINS DERAILED.

(Per Press Asßocaation.) Eketahuna, last night.

Tho mail train from Wellington at 1 p.m. yesterday was partly derailed wbon I coming ioto the s'ation at Eketahuna. Tho front engine left the main lino and got on the side track, tho points being unlooked. The engino then went off the lino, but a truok between the engine and scoond eDgino remamed on the line. The next five passeDgor oars wore derailed. Tho train travelled fifty yards before it i was brought to a standstill. About 400 passengers received a great fright. The train was behind time, and was running I iota the station at 12 miles por hour. Tho engines appear to bo undamaged. 000 took the tcain on, the other was got on the I lino this morning. Tbo permanent way was but litfco mjuted. All ttains are running I two hours late. A porter has been suspended. An enquiry will be held.

Gore, last night. ! Tho oDgine of a speoial express from Invercargill to Dunedin, leaving Gore at 11.54 last night, was derailed while going for water. Two engines were obtained from Invercargill, and on arrival of the night train from Dunedin the passengers transhipped into each other's trains, the south-going train being li hours, and the north-going 3 hours late. The points were apparently in order. The usual departmental enquiry will be held.
